This book is essentially a collaboration of dug up photographic evidence with accompanying graphic materials mapping out a forgotten history of this Operation Olympiad. A time piece of events overlooked or better yet hidden surrounding the 1940 Tokyo Olympic Games. I have used my connection to Japan to explore not only the ugly underbelly of 1940, but also myself as an artist and expressive researcher. I gathered details through Japan’s traditions and their obsession of aesthetics. Through their connection to militarism in the 20th century and Olympic idealism, and also the more recent effects of globalism and the present re-emergence of extreme forms of right-wing nationalism as Tokyo prepares to host the 2020 games.
